Ammabile
Rafaela Zago
AMMABILE was founded in 2018 by the Fashion Designer Rafaela Zago. The main idea was to develop a luxury brand with a sustainable responsible. Amabile was the designer’s great grandmother’s name. The logo was created when Rafaela joined the letters of Zago, her surname. Somehow, she would like to link her name to the brand’s name. That was when she drew two mirrored “Z” and visualized the butterfly, the AMMABILE symbol. Exotic leather is a byproduct of the food industry: here we have the challenge of transforming it into noble and sustainable pieces. Each stage of production is handmade from drawing and painting the leather, to manufacturing.
During fashion school, Rafaela worked in the luxury clothing segment with crystals embroidered pieces and creations in fine fabrics. She fell in love with the handmade process, so she took it with her to create AMMABILE. After a season of studies at Central Saint Martins in London and several researches, the designer decided to change the embroideries of the festive dresses for something with a greater purpose: she noticed that there were a lot of potential raw material that was being wasted, and when Rafaela found sustainable exotic leathers had her starting point.
