Momoc
Gabriela Machado

In 2016 the founder of Momoc, Gabriela Machado, was an international tax advisor at the Big4, EY Luxembourg. She decided to take a few months off under an unpaid leave to work at organic farms in New Zealand, Woofing format. It was while working on those farms where she learned everything about circular economy and zero waste. Back to Luxembourg, Gabriela had changed. She became super conscious of the amount of plastic used and she also became aware of sustainable fashion. Looking for clothes and shoes for her personal use, she realized that there was not much offer of sustainable shoes in the market. And it was a fall in love project with Momoc. In 2016 she created the company and started investigating sustainable materials. Momoc team is constantly investigating new and innovative materials. For example, they have designed a collection with pineapple leather from Pinatex and are currently doing tests with cactus leather.
The main materials are: recycled cotton and polyester from post-consumer clothes and plastic bottles, recycled tires for the sole, recycled wood for the heel and free chrome ecological and breathable microfiber for the lining and insole.
